1. The Director is a former Professor of Military Science at Washington High School, Tacoma, Washington and the Deputy Director is the Professor of Military Science at Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington. Both the Director and the Deputy Director are members of the Puget Sound Chapter, The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW)
2. The Northwest Youth Leadership Conference (NWYLC) is designed to develop among the students a better understanding of:
a. The basic principles of a free society and of our nations history
b. The elements of leadership required to maintain a free society
c. Those special aspects of leadership applicable to our political, legal, business, and government organizations
d. The leadership skills which will enable them to successfully assume leadership positions in their schools, communities and future careers.
NOTE: This conference is sponsored by the Northwest Youth Leadership Conference Foundation a 501 (c) (3) non profit which is made up of past and present military officers who are members of the Puget Sound Chapter, The Military Order of the World Wars. Some of the seminars and views presented at the conference will have patriotic and military content. The seminars that have military related content are not intended to be a recruiting tool for the military. These seminars are intended to be a celebration of the American military in the history of leadership.
3. The conference is a leadership training program for post sophomore and junior high school students who have demonstrated academic proficiency and leadership potential. Students who have participated in the conference in past years have achieved a great track record regarding the assumption of leadership roles.
